The Process

Am I crazy if I want to make a product with the best materials, over-engineer the manufacturing process
to the point where it is indestructible, and offer an amazing warranty to go along with it?
Maybe... Probably.

The Leather

I hate it when I buy something that looks nice and ends up broken within the first year. Drives me nuts knowing I spent money on an item that I only had to replace so fast. That is why I decided that Bear Claw Leather will only be made of Full Grain Leather, the toughest and most durable part of the hide. Yes, it may have some scratches, some bumps from bug bites, and an occasional brand mark but that is what makes leather so beautiful. These marks are memories and you will be adding many more to your product over time. Love every bump, scratch, and scrape. They tell the story of your life.

The Thread

If the items I make can't stay together forever, then how do I expect you to buy them! That is why I only use Polyester Thread. The thread I use is braided and waxed for durability and longevity. This is the same type of thread that parachute manufacturers use on their parachutes: that mean it works! Nylon thread can become brittle if exposed to the sun for long periods of time and natural threads like cotton and linen can fall apart and deteriorate pretty fast if used constantly. Now polyester thread is expensive but the extra expense doesn't bother me as much as the idea of my products falling apart because I wanted to save some money.

The HArdware

Every piece of hardware I use for my items are Solid Brass. Every buckle, clasp, and rivet. I source my hardware from a local artisan here in Massachusetts and am able to check the quality of the hardware before I attach them onto my products.

The Finish

Though the items I make are not meant to be chewed on or end up in a mouth, life happens. If your baby or pet finds your wallet and decides it makes their teething feel better you won't have to worry about any harm coming to them. All finishes on my products are natural and safe to ingest (please don't do so on purpose). All of the edges are coated in natural beeswax and every product gets a coating of Chamberlain's Leather Milk Leather Conditioner before being shipped out to make sure you get a nice conditioned piece of leather when you open your package.
